About The Lab
The Health and Resilience Initiative for Vulnerable and Excluded Groups (weTHRIVE) lab has a focus on health disparities and uses a biopsychosocial framework to better understand how sociocultural, cognitive, biological, and interpersonal factors interact to differentially influence levels of distress, symptom manifestation, access to care, and treatment progress among underserved and marginalized populations. The lab aims to bridge the health disparities gap and decrease negative health outcomes associated with exposure to psychological distress and trauma (e.g., PTSD, depression, anxiety). Ultimately, we hope to improve our understanding of culturally-relevant risk and protective factors, and provide insight into culturally-relevant assessment, prevention, and intervention efforts.
Current populations of interest in the lab include: racial/ethnic minority populations, human trafficking victims, and law enforcement populations. Please see the Research Projects page to learn more about the various ongoing projects in the lab.
